On August 13th, 1980, Jayanti and Prasad married in Bangalore.
25 years later, the entire family gathered to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The festivities occurred in the Club House of The Hills in Baskinridge, New Jersey on Saturday, August 13th, 2005. The event was well attended by a large number of family and friends.
The celebration started at 5 pm and lasted till 11 pm. For the festivities, Prasad and Jayanti had front row seats. The invocation was sung by Vijaya and Manju. This was followed by 2 separate dance routines performed Suprita, and then Nikita. Shobha and Suchi gave a hilarious rendition in Kannada and English of why Prasad is a Super Hero. Purna displayed a slide show of Prasad and Jayanti's life in marital bliss for the past 25 years. Then, Sowmya, Meera, Aman, Pramod and Nikita performed a vibrant Bollywood dance medley. After the dance medley, Vasu, along with Sudhir, Sowmya, Vijaya, and Pramod, performed a brilliant comedy skit showing the initial meeting of Prasad and Jayanti in Late Sri Athni Krishna Rao's house. The entertainment was capped by a short acknowledgement from Sowmya.
At the end of the "show", Prasad and Jayanti cut their anniversary cake. Prasad gave Jayanti a new wedding ring as a testament to his love for her. This was followed by some serious PDA (public displays of affection)!!
After the formalities, the DJ played some fun dance music, to which the entire crowd danced for almost 2 hours, including the celebrated couple. This was followed by some delicious food catered by Minar India Restaurant.
The appetizer menu included - Samosa, Chat, Bhel-Puri, Dharwad Peda, Lassi
The main meal menu included - Aloo-Ghobi, Bhindi Masala, Paneer Makhani, Dal-Makhani, Rassum, Pineapple Gojju, Dahi-Vadas, Vegetable Biryani, Rice, Chapatis.
Overall, the evening was a lot of fun. It was another "excuse" for the entire family to get together. Unfortunately, the event seemed to fly by very quickly. If only time can be slowed down to allow us to savor the wonderful moment.
