It was the Fall of 2000. We were in the middle of the most bitterly contested Presidential Elections in American history. Gore and Bush were both fighting for control of our country's power. Amidst this political uncertainty, our family had a defining moment. On November 8, 2000, we were blessed with a Little Angel, who we named Tejas.

That is how the "Big Event" began. With the birth of our Little Angel, we started on a journey through life which has taken us to new emotional highs. The amount of joy that now fills our hearts is beyond words. During this past year, our journey thru life has been spectacular. Tejas brings a smile to our faces by the littlest of actions. Being able to "roll over" was a major event. Being able to sit-up was worthy of a Macy's Parade. Being able to stand-up deserved a big fireworks display.

On November 8, 2001 our Angel became 1 year old. To celebrate this joyous occasion, we had a small party on November 10 at a local park, North Macon Park. This park had ping pong tables, pool tables, foozball tables, and basketball courts. Over 100 people attended this milestone. Meera joined us from New Jersey to experience this special day. She and Tejas were inseparable during her visit. Jayachandra and Saraswati drove from Jacksonville, Florida to also be part of our lives on this joyous occasion. Many friends from Knoxville, Augusta, and Atlanta also made the trip. Ashwini's mom, Hema, came from India to enjoy her grandson's big day.

Numerous children joined Tejas to celebrate the Day. During the gathering, Mickey Mouse magically appeared to the amazement of all the children. Tejas became overjoyed with this visual spectacle. In fact, he refused to leave Mickey's loving arms for a full hour. A grand cake was had by all, including our "Man of the Hour", Tejas.

The proud father, Sudhir, presented a computerized slide show for all the guests, documenting the birth and life of Tejas. November 10 was also a special day for Tejas' grandparents. On this day in 1963, Tata and Ajji got married, and hence we also celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary.

Ajji and Tata spent many hours preparing a gourmet meal for the Big Event. The sumptuous menu included - Poori, Malai Kofta, Navaratna Korma, Potato Sagu, Pillau, Sambar, Dahi Vada, Raita, and Yogurt Rice. Deserts included - Jalebi, Dry Jamoons.

Our Little Angel is now in his second year of life. I continue to be amazed at the wonders of life. I wonder how he will magically learn how to speak. I wonder how he will mystically learn to read and write. I wonder how many times we will burst out laughing at his actions. I wonder how much more proud we will become.

In this grand journey called Life, this past year has given us some of the "best times of our lives". Tejas will continue to bring a sparkle in our lives. We hope to share more of these wonderful moments with our friends and family over the upcoming months and years. Thank you for being a part of our lives during this past year.
